There are numerous great ways for youth to get involved in the volunteer community in St. Louis Park and the Twin Cities area. Many are already involved, but we think there is more to do. More “good connections” to be made. Fortunately we live in Minnesota, recently recognized as the best state for volunteerism in the United States.

Why Youth Volunteerism?
The Barriers:
- Youth lack access to volunteerism opportunities
- Youth lack knowledge about what opportunities are available to them
- Youth are unsure which opportunities they are qualified for
- Parents are unaware how they can support their youth in finding opportunities
The Solution:
I Matter in Park Program communicates and connects Youth Volunteerism opportunities through its web presence and Youth Service Fair at Knollwood Mall on Global Youth Service Day, April 26, 2008. Learn more...
Choosing the Right Volunteer Opportunity
As an affiliate of both the America’s Promise Alliance and Youth Service America’s Global Youth Service initiatives, the I Matter in Park Program is uniquely positioned to support our community’s youth in finding the right volunteer opportunity for them. By providing accessibility through our online and community event tools, we provide a forum for youth, parents, schools, and community programs to connect, communicate and participate.

The I Matter in Park Program is an affiliate of Hands on Twin Cities to support our Youth Volunteerism efforts. Youth and parents can review and discuss volunteerism opportunities through the convenience of their extensive online database of premiere area nonprofit organizations. They will also be at the Youth Service Fair hosting our Volunteer Recognition area to provide additional volunteer support to the St. Louis Park community and the nonprofit organizations that support it.
